I have mentioned before that as a primary school child I loved singing in the school choir which was conducted by a teacher called Phyllis Kennaugh. Some of the songs we sang then remained with me even though I did not sing them again for a long time. This is one such which when it came back to my memory this morning I realised that I knew the lyrics off by heart even though it is over 50 years ago that I first learned them. I probably didn't really listen to meaning of the lyrics back then, but loved the speed of the chorus which may account for why it has been retained in my memory.
